The Grauniad.
Yeh, I nearly get it but it is not the same. Just drove down to Manchester yesterday and could not get a copy on route from Argyll, trying service stations and farm shops, desperate to redeem my wee annoying pre-page voucher or be cheated.
And of course they have sold the Observer, and from Private Eye I hear how the current management are treating journalists and cartoonists, columnists and sports writers. Surely not but sadly so. Just when we need it, in all its forms it seems to be imploding, (and that Saturday magazine which drives me mad).
But I’ll keep going despite their efforts to dismay and discourage me, not enough copies in my wee Post Office, cancelled by their distributor if I go away, and sadly no thump on the door mat in my rural retreat. Paper tules for me, just about still worth the effort

End of an era. I get the Herald now- still a broadsheet paper and with Scottish news in depth unlike the London-centric nationals.

I do get the Guardian online but still like to buy my paper copy as well, when I can, which is most days actually. I find it’s easier to browse the paper for the things I really want to read although perhaps that’s just an excuse for not getting with the times.

It will soon be no more. I still get the Saturday paper ( on order from the village shop ) but there will a come a time when it is no more

I buy the Herald in Glasgow which is also becoming hard to find. My corner shop is supplied only with a couple of copies! If people can’t cope with an informative paper, there’s little chance they’ll read a book

I bought a Sunday Newspaper a few weeks ago for the first time in years, had a gentle morning reading the sections like in the old days…today news and commentary comes fast, short, and of dubious veracity….
